elections

I’ve got two reasons to be grateful for Tuesday’s elections. Most obvious to me is that I voted. In Virginia, where I live, the election officers will bring a portable voting machine to the car of a voter who needs assistance. All I had to do was get myself into a car and to the polling place.

I’m glad that I made the effort because there wasn’t much of a margin in the Webb/Allen race. I don’t know for sure what we’ll get with the Democrats, but I think it’s pretty obvious what we would have gotten with the Republicans—two more years of the same single-mindedness and self-congratulation that got us to the mess we’re in. At least I can be hopeful for a while.
