Alarms for Medical Devices

I hope doctors, hospital administrators, and medical device manufacturers are paying attention to To Reduce Hospital Noise, Researchers Create Alarms That Whistle and Sing. Yoko Sen, an electronic musician, observed after a hospital stay

“Unnecessary noise is the cruelest absence of care,” Ms. Sen said to a room full of medical professionals at a conference last year about end-of-life management. The words came from the mother of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale, who worked in the Crimean War in the 19th century.

I don't disagree with that assessment, but I'd work unattended alarms into the statement somehow. It's really disconcerting to be lying awake, alone, while an alarm beeps endlessly.
