What should have been a routine doctor's visit yesterday created a stir when the elevator to the first floor went out of service. The last few patients of the day gamely walked down three flights of stairs. This doesn't have the resonance of Senator Kirk on the Capitol steps, but I couldn't resist asking for a snapshot.
Now that I've got an experience like this under my belt, I wonder how long it would take me to go down the steps in the Washington Monument.
