Ron Friedman notes in a Fast Company article I added to the comments after a post about a quote about our perception of time by Yasunari Kawabata that the aging process can't be stopped—
There are biological accounts, having to do with natural changes in heart rate, metabolism, and body temperature as we age. Neurologically, the mature brain also produces less dopamine, a chemical that plays an important role in controlling our internal clock.
but it can be slowed. The first of the steps he recommends is "seek out beauty." That's exactly what seems to be happenning here.
